NOTES FROM PENARTH PEERS WI MEETING – DECEMBER 13th 2023
The meeting was opened at 7pm by Linda Prytherch, who welcomed all members to the Christmas party. Linda reflected on how the group had started with a relatively small number of members, which has now increased to a membership list of approximately 70. Linda thanked all the interim committee members for the excellent work they had done over the course of the year. She extended particular thanks to Julie, Liz and Rosemary for all their hard work organising entertainment etc. Members can look forward to entertainment from a ukelele group at the next meeting in January.
Linda outlined the programme for the evening, starting with carols from Penarth Community Choir, followed by a buffet, free raffle, and quiz, time permitting. She thanked everyone who brought a contribution to be given to the local food bank.
Rosemary Martin spoke to the group about the Glamorgan Federation Show Schedule; there is a list of different classes including photography, floral arrangements and confectionery which members can get involved with if interested.
Julie Davies said that she would be happy to set up a craft group; she gave some examples of projects including knitted flowers, making a banner, Christmas tree and alphabet.
Linda asked members to think about any other activities they would like to try and put forward any suggestions in January.
Following a performance of carols old and new, Linda gave a vote of thanks for the wonderful entertainment provided by Penarth Community Choir, which was enjoyed by all. A buffet and raffle concluded the evening, the meeting closed at 9pm.
