NOTES FROM PENARTH PEERS MEETING - FEBRUARY 8TH 2023
The meeting was opened with a welcome from Julie. Julie started with the normal fire exits etc routine and asked if we would put our chairs back and take cups and rubbish back to kitchen.
At our next meeting we will be having a visit from a shop in Penarth arcade which is very conscious of waste and promotes Zero waste. We will be collecting our subs which will be £46.
She also said we have very interesting Speakers for the future and we have had 2 letters -
1. From the Tabernacle church for all the provisions we gave to The food bank.
2. From WI for the 2023 Celebrations of £100 from Head Office.
There are vacancies for volunteers on the Committee and thanks were given to Helen who is resigning as secretary. Julie said the post could easily be shared. Other vacancies would be for various committee roles and taking Notes at the monthly meeting.
She also said we would be increasing the raffle prizes too.
Committee have arranged for an outing for educational purposes to Stratford on Avon and Bourton on the water. It will be discussed again at the March meeting.
The coach will be paid for by the WI.
We also have an outing to see The Mousetrap on the 16 th March.
Our speaker was Lt.Col.Retd Caroline Whittaker who was speaking and showing us primarily CPR. She stressed that the best thing to do when confronted with an accident or emergency was to give you Skill, Confidence and CPR. She said the main thing to do was :- 1. Assess the situation.
2.Call emergency services.
3.Identify casualties and put them in recovery position if needed and clear the Airways.
4. Control situation.
5.Obtain defibrillator if one available as machine will talk one through what to do.
After a very pleasant cup of tea and cake - with thanks to Sue Harris, Sally Johns and Gaynor Vodden for providing it - Julie drew the meeting to a close at 9pm
